Helping DOE&E protect Australia’s pristine environments
The Supervising Scientist Branch (SSB) is part of the Department of the Environment and Energy’s Heritage Reef and Marine Division. The Supervising Scientist Branch was established to ensure protection of the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory from the impacts of uranium mining, and does so by undertaking research and developing standards and practices for environmental protection. The SSB manages one of Australia’s most extensive historical environmental monitoring data sets, dating back over 40 years, with ongoing research and monitoring continuing
